Stuart and Nancy Namm had recently returned from a three week African safari in Tanzania, and we were off on eight days in the Caribbean with Holland America Line's newest ship, the magnificent ms Eurodam, another one of those damn ships! While we did some time shooting underwater video of two of Grand Turk's diminutive reefs, we absolutely needed the peace and musicality provided by the four Russian-Ukranian musicians in the Eurodam's spacious Explorer's Lounge. There they sit every night, commencing at 6:00 PM until whenever, performing everything from JS Bach to East European music incorporating familiar melodies like the famed "Anniversary Waltz," taken to the near top of the pop charts by an aging Al Jolsen in the sunset of his magnificent life, in the early 1950's, which only people with receding silver hairlines like myself can remember.
